Zenab Luminita Labaran

Zenab Luminita Labaran is a Director, Writer and Producer and was born in Bucharest, Romania. Specializing in new forms of Avant Garde and Experimental films and television shows, she received her M.A. degree in Directing for Film and Television from the University of Westminster in London, England and her B.A. degree in Film and Video Production from the University of Derby in Derbyshire, England, both receiving highest honours. She also possesses an Associates in Applied Science in Graphic Design and Technology (AI), focusing on design and technology for visual and digital arts. EARLY LIFE AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER Ms. Labaran was born in the Muntii Gurghiului region (sector 6) of Bucharest, Romania to a Romanian mother and Nigerian father. Her mother, Luminita Labaran, is a nurse in Ann Arbor, MI. Her father, Dr. Abdul Labaran, is an engineer. As young children, Ms. Labaran and her sister, Rakiya Natalia Labaran-Freeman, lived and was educated in several countries. The family left Romania, moving to Kano, Nigeria. Several years later, in 1989, they moved to Moscow, Idaho. Both girls continued their education in Moscow, attending Moscow high school. Ms. Labaran left Moscow with her mother, moving to Ann Arbor, MI and graduated from Huron High School. Taking classes in engineering at the local university, Ms. Labaran decided that engineering was not the path for her and began taking film classes. These classes led her to obtaining a degree at the University of Derby. Having made several films, she also began anonymously consulting in film and television. After returning to the United States for a short while, she traveled back to England, this time to London, to work in film and television and to obtain her Master's degree. She continued to consult within the industry, and still does so today while directing, writing and producing for film and television. Shortly before finishing the course, Ms. Labaran once again returned to the United States. Ssion Technology and Films/SPECTRUM is Ms. Labaran's production and design company specializing in the advancement in technology, film and television.
