In addition to being a prolific screenwriter with a distinct voice, Kenya branch is an African American minister who grew up in the inner city of Philadelphia. His screenplays typically feature characters of diverse ethnicities finding common ground and even love when they aren't necessarily looking for it. He doesn't believe films by creatives of color should be limited to stories featuring gangs, drugs, criminals or broad comedy. I've written and produced fifteen shorts including "People Like Me," featuring Elizabeth Banks, that has been utilized in diversity training. He wrote and co-produced a dramedy, "Dumped On," for Capital Cities/ABC that aired on its Philadelphia affiliate, WPVI (6ABC). He was was hired in 2019 by Messenger Films to write an urban drama. His screenplays have won or placed high in several international competitions including: The Kairos Prize for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays, The Urbanworld International Film Festival, Story Pros annual International competition, The Capital Fund Screenplay Competition, The International Christian Film Festival and The Set in Philadelphia screenplay competition My first competition win was the Writers Workshop Ethnic Minority Screenplay competition.
