Maxime Gilbert is a bilingual French-Canadian writer, producer and director. Born in the multi-cultural suburbs of Montreal (Canada) in the early 1980s, he developed a deep passion for films and knew, at a very early age, that he wanted to be a filmmaker. After graduating from Concordia University in 2006, he directed, under the banner of Be Realistik Productions, a number of award-winning short films before directing his first feature film, "La Désolation d'Henri Desmarais", with a modest budget of $6000 USD, at the age of twenty-nine. In 2015, he founded, with partner Julie St-François, a new company, Henriesque Films, whose first short film, "Gros Mots", won the 2015 New York Twenty-Four Hour Film Race and has been showcased in festivals all around the world.
