Janet Travis is an Austin, TX-based Producer/Writer/Actor with Maenad Productions, a female-led production company specializing in telling the stories of strong women. Janet's first role was in the feature film, "Grow Up, Tony Phillips," in which she played the part of Tony's mom, Claire. The film went on to debut at SXSW 2013 and has continued to enjoy renewed interest during each Halloween season. Janet wrote the semi-autobiographical short, "Mother's Day," which was an official selection of the Austin Film Society SXSW 2019 Shortcase. Mother's Day also won the Charlie Chaplin Award for Best Narrative Short at the 2019 Blow-Up International Arthouse Film Festival in Chicago as well as Best Short Film at the 2019 Lonestar Film Festival in Ft. Worth. Janet was nominated for the Monica Vitti Award for Best Actress at the 2019 Blow-Up International Arthouse Film Festival in Chicago. Janet is in pre-production for her first feature screenplay, Day of the White Rabbit, which she wrote with Elizabeth Tabish. Her other projects thus far include co-writing and starring in a short for the 48 Hour Film Festival ("Lumen-42"), Gena in Vindication II, as well as roles in Cecilia, The Darlings, Portal, Inhumanity, Raven, and many commercials.
