Manuel Maqueda

Manuel Maqueda is a teacher, social entrepreneur and author, whose media creation focuses on showcasing envirosocial issues through artistry. Manuel co-founded and co-produced the iconic plastic pollution documentary film Albatross. Manuel is married to dance-activist Raquel Santiago, and has directed and produced a number of videos showcasing her work at the intersection of dance and environmental awareness. Manuel is co-founder and CEO of SUPER (Single-Use Plastic Elimination or Reduction) a nonprofit enabling businesses to eliminate single-use plastics through footprinting technology and a tiered certification program. www.super.ngo Manuel teaches circular economy and social entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley. He has designed the curriculum for UC Berkeley's Circular Economy Online Program. Manuel is recognized as a pioneer in building the plastic pollution movement. Manuel co-founded Plastic Pollution Coalition, bringing together over 150 organizations worldwide, El Plástico Mata, leading initiative in Spanish language, and Le Plastique Tue, serving French-speaking countries. Manuel consults and teaches internationally, with a focus on sustainable innovation and circular and regenerative economies.
