Youlian Tabakov has MA in Set Design at the N. Pavlovich National Art Academy, Sofia (2000); MA in Fine Art at ENS des Baux-Arts, Paris (2003). His debut as a set designer and director was in Tchekhov's Three Sisters at Salza i Smiah Theatre, Sofia (season 1999-2000). Since 2002 he has worked in Sweden. In 2007 made the set and costume designs for The Tempest by W. Shakespeare at Mazazis teatras, Vilnius, and in 2008 for Troilus and Cressida by W. Shakespeare at Vakhtangov Theatre, Moscow; for The Young Prince and the Truth by Jean Claude Carierre at Sofia's Puppet Theatre and The Idiot 2012 after Dostoyevsky at the National Drama Theatre, Sofia; solo exhibitions in Sofia, Plovdiv and Stockholm and a number of participations in group exhibitions; designed several fashion collections and illustrated poetry and children books. Tzvetanka is his first documentary.
