A distinctive, yet versatile Bulgarian actress Silviya Stanoeva, started her career in a couple of short films, directed by Macedonian director Andrey Volkashin. Their collaboration peaked with "Shhh... Sing to me!", a comedy musical that became a cult classic and was the first Bulgarian short film to be theatrically distributed throughout the country. Director Volkashin has stated that Silviya has inspired one of the main characters "Beba" and that he wrote it specifically for her. Silviya appeared in many other Tv series and indie films, portraying diverse and complex characters. She is Sarajevo Talents 2013 alumni and was supported by America for Bulgaria foundation for her fellowship at Ivana Chubbuck's studio in L.A. Since then, Silviya continued her work in feature films, proving herself as one of the most promising young Bulgarian actresses with a rare talent of delivering powerful dramatic performances with a great sense of humor. Silviya is a devoted artist that is always looking for new ways to express her performing talents and has appeared in many international productions. She played a role in "Paradise suite" by Joost van Ginkel and in the French documentary "Pompei rising", about to premier in 2020. She has also come back to comedy with the new Bulgarian film "Yatagan". Apart from her passion for cinema, Silviya has worked extensively in theatre, earning a couple of awards, including the prestigious national Ikar Award for outstanding debut performance. Silviya is also a trained pop and jazz singer. In 2019 she released three singles and videos in collaboration with the Norwegian composer Hans Petter Gundersen.
