Gurpreet sidhu was born at Queens medical hospital in Nottingham. He was brought up in Normanton, Derby by his mother who has been working as a beauty therapist for the last 28 years. He studied at dale primary school and then went onto study at secondary school which was called littleover community school in derby. Here he achieved 4 GCSEs at A*-C. His education continued at Mackworth College in derby where he studied sport and achieved level 1-3. Furthermore he attended the University of Derby to study BA (HONS) Sport and exercise studies for 3 years and has graduated from this course recently. Gurpreet wanted to become either a personal trainer or a sports nutritionist and was considering doing further studying in order to achieve this. Also he was always in between jobs to support himself. Whilst in between jobs his friend suggested to him that he could do extra work in film and television if he wanted extra money. Gurpreet had a good think about this and decided to do extra work. He started to apply to extra agencies that offered him representation and very quickly started sending him out to work on mostly TV soaps. As gurpreet got into the stride of doing extra work he thought to himself this is really enjoyable and decided after 2 months that he definitely wanted to work in the acting industry career wise. First of all he got some professional headshots were taken followed by working on low budget and student films to gain experience in front of the camera as well as building up a show reel for directors to see. Along with this he also joined the derby academy of acting to sharpen his acting skills through acting classes. Joining acting school gave gurpreet a lot of confidence and his shyness soon disappeared. As a result of this his performances in projects that he was cast in were improving a great deal. So far gurpreet's most notable work has been a short film called just talk to me where he played the part of a radio presenter called Richard Malone. This short film was screened at the five lamps short film competition at the Quad cinema in derby in January 2013. He played the part of a aggressive customer called Saj in the gritty crime drama 10 grams which released on 31 May 2014 in the US on cable TV. 10 grams has been given 3 out of 5 star rating. Also on imdb, the film has been given a rating of 8.4/10 as well as good reviews. 10 grams is due to release in the UK very soon. Also playing the role of Salim khan in the short film tainted love was an interesting and challenging role for gurpreet as it required him to push his boundaries as an actor and it really boosted his confidence in leaps and bounds. Tainted love is set to release soon as well. Outside of acting, gurpreet currently has a part time job at sky where he is a customer service advisor. He also likes to keep fit by jogging and skipping as often as possible. Gurpreet will next be working in the spooks feature film where he will be playing a car driver. This film has kit Harington from game of thrones and peter firth from spooks TV series as some of the films cast.
