Rhys Holland is an emerging Film & TV director raised in Driffield, East Yorkshire, and based in London after graduating with a first-class (Hons) in Film and Media at Sheffield Hallam University in 2014. He decided to pursue filmmaking after watching Lord Of The Rings The Fellowship of The Ring at age 9 and started making short films at 14 by playing with his parent's video camera and editing on his school's edit suite. After graduating Rhys started work in London as a warehouse Technician for a camera equipment rental company before moving over to being a receptionist for Kudos TV and an assistant script editor on Tin Star Series 2. He then moved over to the BBC working for EastEnders as a script coordinator and assistant script editor. In January 2020 he quit his job to study for an MA at London Film School pursuing his love of filmmaking and directing. Whilst there he was selected for London Lift-Off Festival for his short film Pitching and was student governor at the school. Rhys is known for exploring social issues such as; class disparity, mental health issues, and fractured family relationships in his films and takes influence from filmmakers like Ken Loach, Steve McQueen, Shane Meadows, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, and Christopher Nolan. Citing Spielberg, Nolan, and Jackson as his original inspiration for wanting to be a filmmaker.
