Karli Webster is an actress and musician born and raised in Southern California. Being named after Carly Simon, one can assume Karli's childhood to be one filled with music, and that's exactly what it was. She recounts her youth as a collection of 'hanging out in green rooms' at her father's concerts and dancing around the house to her mother's favorite 70's hits. She began studying classical piano at age 3, and through her 15 years of training, she achieved 8 state-level championships. With her deep piano influence, Karli began writing small melodies and tunes at age 5. After winning 1st place in an elementary school songwriting competition with her song, "Courage," she continued writing music and has developed her uniquely classic sound and songwriting style. As explained on her website's 'Bio' page, "...her musical style is deeply influenced by the 1960's-1970's Laurel Canyon music scene, as well as female folk singer/songwriters of the 1970's, including Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks, Melanie Safka, Linda Ronstadt, and Dolly Parton. Along with these influences, Karli creates her timeless sound with the help of her mastered instrument technique on piano, ukulele, mandolin, and banjo." Although she is primarily a singer/songwriter, her musical journey began in theater. She performed in various musical theater performances throughout her hometown, Santa Clarita, from age 5 to 18. Throughout her years performing with her local theater troupe, Karli was active in her high school's theater program, where she explored acting outside of just musicals. It was through her high school that Karli was scouted for a role in Susana Casares Domingo's award-winning short film, "Tryouts." In February of 2017, Karli attended the "open call auditions" for NBC's Emmy-winning television show, 'The Voice.' After multiple callbacks, she passed through to the taped "Blind Auditions." Her performance of Carly Simon's hit "You're So Vain," earned Karli two 'chair-turns' from both Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine. Her rendition of Simon's classic earned her a spot in the top 40 iTunes Pop charts, and the top 200 all-over charts. Karli soared through the show's "Battle Rounds," with a unique rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." This cover, featuring fellow contestant, Addison Agen, reached #17 on the iTunes Pop charts, as well as #37 on the all-over music charts. Outside of 'The Voice,' Karli is pursuing a career as a performing songwriter, while also attending the University of Southern California to study Music Industry.
