Born Robert Hamilton McLaughlin Jr at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, "Mac" was a given nickname from birth. His father was a career military officer and Mac traveled extensively growing up with time spent across the US and Germany. He graduated High School at Munich American High School and attended Furman University (Greenville, SC) on an ROTC scholarship. Mac's first film work was as an uncredited extra in The Innocent (1993), filmed in Berlin, Germany during his assignment as an officer with the Berlin Brigade. Following his time as an Army Officer, he worked in the hospitality industry for a number of years before returning to the defense industry as a training support contractor. Mac has appeared in and organized military extras for several defense industry product films and photo-shoots as a development of his work organizing military simulation events and tactical training courses. His credited commercial roles include a Special Forces soldier in Rockabilly Zombie Weekend (2013), a member of the paramilitary hostage rescue team in Room 236 (2015) and as lead actor in the short film, The Ferryman (2016). Since then he has continued providing military extras for defense industry photo-shoots and is in the early stages of work with several other independent film projects.
