Adam P.W. Smith

Adam PW Smith (P Dub) spent years as a still photographer, working primarily in the independent music scene. He has been called "the best concert photographer in the country," and traveled with various musical acts through North America and Europe. His tour with The Dreadnoughts resulted in the book This Place Is Awesome ("a series of daily accounts filled with wry humor and often laced with a bittersweet aftertaste, Smith reliving his and the band's experiences via the notes he wrote and some strikingly sharp black and white photography"). In 2017 he compiled years of archival photos and video with new interviews to a short documentary on the band - "STOKED: The Return of The Dreadnoughts." In 2011 he shifted his focus from photography to film work, specializing in documentary and music-related projects. He has taken many positions behind the camera, including director, cinematographer, camera operator, 1st AD, and lighting tech. He regularly contributes to CBC Music projects, and has worked on two films with Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker John Zaritsky (and one film -about- John Zaritsky). His unusual appearance has also led to a series of background acting roles.
