Sydney Lloyd Smith

Sydney Lloyd Smith is a screenwriter and producer based in New York City and Costa Rica. Her indie feature project, 'Howler' (co-written with Christina Lazaridi) was named a finalist for a 2020 Tribeca Film Institute/Sloan Filmmaker Fund grant. Earlier drafts of the script garnered top awards in numerous screenplay competitions and earned Sydney 'Best First-Time Writer' at the 2016 London Film Festival. Sydney's short film 'hello', which she wrote, directed and produced, was garnered 'Best Short' at the 2018 Brooklyn Film Festival. The film, which screened at fifteen festivals across the U.S. and abroad, received The Award of Excellence from the 2017 Best Shorts Competition. Her 2016 short 'The Present' (co-written/co-produced with Holle Singer) premiered at The Mill Valley Film Festival and was screened at L.A. Shorts. Sydney's television pilot script 'Positively 10th Street' was named 'Best Teleplay' at the 2019 Amsterdam Film Festival. Her short comedic screenplay, 'Mr. Happy', made finalist at the Austin Comedy Short Film Festival, and won 'Best Short Screenplay' at the 2017 London Film Awards.
