Starlotta Milam

Rising star Starlotta "Star" Milam, also known as Starlotta Milan is a professionally trained actor, dancer and performance artist from Chicago, Illinois. A powerful and poised performer, with grit and grace galore, Milam will soon be distinguished among the most influential artists of her generation. In 2015, she appeared as a Actor and Principal Dancer in "Chi-Raq" the movie-having been personally invited to fill the role by the film's groundbreaking director Spike Lee. Employing fine art as a vehicle of historical memory and storytelling, Milam's work solidifies connections between race and place while highlighting the malleability of the Black identity. Milam is also the Director of Art at the Sister Survivor Network, a Chicago-based advocacy and support group. She recently assisted a non-majors introduction to Dance course at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she will receive a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance, May 2019. In 2019, post graduation Milam will extend her thesis project to a dance for film, begin auditioning for more roles on the big screen and release her first album as a vocal artist.
