Yana Zhovinsky was born in Odessa, Ukraine to mother Anna and father Michail, both of whom were computer programmers at the time. Full of energy and a love for dance, she was enrolled in Children's Performing Arts Academy in Odessa, Ukraine in 1992, just prior to her third birthday. There she was trained in all aspects of theatrical performance, as well as ballroom and modern dance. She simultaneously began attending music school, learning to play the violin, and participating in solo concerts as young as six years old. She continued training and performing in theater, dance, and violin until her family immigrated to the United States in 1999. Residing in California, just a year after immigration, she joined a youth theater company and a competitive dance team. She continue her training and education in performing arts all the way through college, and earned a BA in Sociology with a double minor in Dramatic Arts and Russian from University of California, Davis. Since immigrating to the United States, she has performed in over 50 theatrical productions, dance competitions, a violin concerts. She continues to pursue projects in film and television, as well as theatrical productions.
