Maya Elizabeth Bar-Lev was born in Brooklyn, New-York on February 5, 1990 to Sharon Bar-Lev and Meir Bar-Lev. At the age of 3, Maya moved to Israel with her parents, her older sister, Cori, and her younger brother, Oren. At the age of 18, she joined the Israeli Defense Force where she served 2 years as an army Basic Training Squad Commander. After her military service, Maya moved back to New-York to attend NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied Film & Television Production. Maya has produced many short films, one of which, Black Line (which she also wrote and directed), screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. She has also worked on films such as Still Alice (starring Julianne Moore in her Oscar winning role) and 5 to 7 (starring Anton Yelchin, Bérénice Marlohe and Glenn Close).
