Ashley Holmberg is a creative entrepreneur, classically trained violinist & violist and music education advocate who has taught and performed internationally on 4 continents. She recently brought her expertise, passion and professionalism to Sonoma County- collaborating with exceptional innovators, musicians and advocacy programs to share innovative thought throughout the community. She started her formal violin instruction in Fairbanks, Alaska. She studied at the Boulder Arts Academy under the instruction of Barbara Barber as part of the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestras Young Artist Program. After being awarded the Alpenglow Music Scholarship, Holmberg attended the University of Northern Colorado under the instruction of Dr. Juliet White-Smith. Under the Baton of Dr. Russel Guyver, Holmberg performed as a Violist with the UNC Symphony Orchestra representing the USA in the International Cycle of University Orchestras in Zaragoza, Spain. Graduating with Honors as Alumni Chair for the UNC Mortar Board Senior Honor Society, she holds a Bachelors of Music Education with a focus in K-12 Instrumental Music capable of teaching a broad scope of musical instruments and concepts. Holmberg began her teaching career as a Violin and Viola Instructor (Ajarn) for Mahidol University College of Music in Bangkok, Thailand. During her time overseas, Holmberg additionally performed with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and worked as the Viola clinician for the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra. After returning to the US, Holmberg settled into the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado where she taught music for 3 years at Sopris Elementary School while performing as principal Violist for Symphony in the Valley and chamber music for Wedding Music Aspen. She was actively involved in implementing and instructing for Aspen Music Festivals Inaugural year of their Beginning String program. Before leaving Colorado, Ashley was instructing at Aspen Country Day School as Lead Teacher for AMF. In addition to her work as a string music advocate, she has also been involved withe the Alaska Festival Singers touring Italy, Switzerland and Germany to perform for Mass services at the Vatican and St. Marks Basilica. Actively involved in Chamber Music, she has performed for the Universidad Camera de Valdivia in Chile providing community outreaching in Southern Patagonia. A passionate performer and devoted music educator, Holmberg has moved to Healdsburg, California to expand her creative entrepreneurship and focus on performance and pedagogical opportunities in the region.
