Born on May 24, 1997 in Tepic, Nayarit, Cristian Calderón, nicknamed Chicote, is a defender in one of Mexico's most legendary football teams, Club Deportivo Guadalajara, also known as Chivas. Cristian started his football career in third division with Club Deportivo Tepic at age 16 and since has played left defender. Cristian, who goes by the nickname Chicote, has come a long way from getting paid 1000 Mexican pesos per month playing with Club Deportivo Tepic to getting paid 800,000 Mexican pesos per month with Chivas. Since beginning his football career his goal has been to financially help his parents and sister and make them proud. At age 17 he played with Atlas' U-17 and U-20 teams, making his Liga MX debut with Atlas' first team in 2016. Cristian arrived at Club Necaxa for the Clausura 2019 tournament, in which he scores his first, first-division goal on March 5, 2019 against Club América. At the end of the 2019 Apertura tournament, Chicote was listed in the Best XI. He was called up to play for the Mexico National Team by Gerardo Martino and on October 2, 2019 Cristian debuted for his country's team in a friendly against Trinidad & Tobago. On December 11, 2019, Chicote signed with Chivas and became part of the new reinforcements acquired by the Guadalajara team. His league debut with Chivas was on January 18, 2020 and three days later he scored his first goal with Chivas against Dorados of Sinaloa during the first Round-of-16 leg of the Copa MX tournament. Even as a defender, Chicote proved to be a goal-scorer as he scored his first league goal that helped Chivas beat Atlético of San Luis on August 15, 2020. That game also became the newly appointed head coach Victor Manuel Vucetich his first win with the team.
