Brian D. Roberts

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Brian is the son of two celebrated physicians and attended Pre-K through 8th grade at the famous Tesseract school. Fellow students included children of celebrities, professional athletes (e.g. Charles Barkley, Dan Majerle, Keven Robinson,, etc...) and local politicians. As a young person, he took years of piano lessons, played little league baseball, joined the Phoenix Boys Choir (on one occasion, even performing at Phoenix Symphony Hall with guest singers from the Harlem Boys Choir), had weekend tennis lessons and even played on his schools flag football team. Although he had fun outside, Brian was always more interested in avoiding the heat and watching movies with his younger brother. After years of watching films all the time and going to the movie theater every Friday night, Brian and his brother began shooting movies themselves. In the beginning, they shot everything on a shoulder mounted VHS camcorder. Eventually they transitioned to the much more portable handheld camcorder. From action shorts and comedies to wrestling matches, the Roberts brothers were constantly creating videos throughout their adolescence. In the back on his mind Brian always wanted to make movies, but instead of going down that path, he followed a different passion when it came time to attend Arizona State University in 2003. Brian was running an online music magazine and designing websites for local bands and other small clients, so instead of starting on the track to a film degree, he attended classes on the Digital Art and Computer Information Systems tracks. Shortly after the first year at ASU, Brian moved on from running an online magazine and transitioned into band management as a career. It only made sense to then start attending classes on the Music Business and Audio Production tracks. After a few years of touring and taking less and less credit hours per semester, Brian decided to make one final attempt at going back to school and subsequently enrolled in the film production program at Arizona State University. In early 2013 an opportunity came about that would connect Brian with Coatwolf Productions, the collective of filmmakers that made the hit Sundance sensation, "Bellflower" (written, directed and starring Evan Glodell). He decided to move to Los Angeles and his first gig was working on Coatwolf's second feature film, "Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins". In late 2013, upon completion of principal photography of Coatwolf's second feature film, Brian began working in and around LA as a Film & Web-Series Producer. He has produced short films and has worked as a Key PA on an American Film Institute short film as well as working as the lead producer for a comedy YouTube channel.
