Actor Michael Robert Hendrick recently performed (June 2018) at the Miskolc National Theatre in Miskolc, Hungary at the Bartok Plusz Operafesztivál in the lead protagonist role of The Prince in LOVE FOR THREE ORANGES. The month before (May 2018) he appeared in Birmingham, Michigan as the painter Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini's iconic opera, TOSCA. Earlier this year (February and March 2018) Mr. Hendrick returned to the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, Croatia in the lead role of Erik in Wagner's opera THE FLYING DUTCHMAN. Last year, performances of LOVE FOR THREE ORANGES were also held at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb (February, June and October 2017). Next year in 2019 Mr. Hendrick returns to Zagreb for more performances of THE FLYING DUTCHMAN. Mr. Hendrick was named Artist of the Year in 2001 by Washington National Opera at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for his portrayal of Lennie in "Of Mice and Men". He has performed Lennie in several other opera theaters across the United States, including Arizona Opera (Phoenix and Tucson), Utah Opera (Salt Lake City), Kentucky Opera (Louisville), Sarasota Opera (Sarasota, Florida) and Phoenicia Festival of the Voice (Phoenicia, New York). His acting career includes over two decades as a leading operatic tenor throughout the United States and internationally has appeared onstage with opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout North America, South America, Europe, and in Moscow, including at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Santa Fe Opera, Montreal Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Seattle Opera, Teatro Municipal (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Teatro Amazonas (Manaus, Brazil), Palacio de Bellas Artes (Mexico City, Mexico), Kolobov Novaya Theatre (Moscow, Russia), National Symphony Orchestra (The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.), American Symphony Orchestra (Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York City), the National Philharmonic (Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, Maryland), the Los Angeles Philharmonic (Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles), London Philharmonic Orchestra (Southbank Centre in London), Philadelphia Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Spain (Madrid), Slovenská Filharmónia (Slovak Philharmonic) in Bratislava, Republic of Slovakia; Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest (Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra), Radio Filharmonisch Orkest (Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and many others. Michael Robert Hendrick has recorded with the following labels: Telarc (American Symphony Orchestra), Albany (Slovak Philharmonic), DG Concerts / Deutsche Grammophon (Los Angeles Philharmonic) and LPO (London Philharmonic Orchestra). A native of LaGrange, Georgia, Mr. Hendrick remained in Georgia to earn the Bachelor of Music Education (voice) from Berry College in Mount Berry, near Rome, Georgia. At the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Hendrick earned both the Master of Music in Vocal Performance followed by the Artist Diploma in Opera Performance. He currently lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his wife and son, and the loudest grub-digging beagle in Louisiana.
