Having been passionate to work in the film industry since his college days, Manikandan Ramamoorthy did his Bachelor of Mass Media(BMM) in Advertising from the University of Mumbai in 2009 and later completed his Master of Science(M.Sc.) in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai. Gradually working his way up, Manikandan is now a professional Cinematographer, blending a unique visual style in narrating the story and putting himself in the center of a story with his cinematography at any domain, be it Feature Films, Short Films, Documentary, Corporate Films, Television Commercials and also in any such visual form. He is a trained and passionate professional in contemporary digital film making technologies. One of Manikandan's works -- "Nila Vaanam Kaatru Mazhai" was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015, and won an award in Social Category for direction and cinematography. His works in the Indian Cinema has fetched him a lot of experience and learning. After doing his Masters, Manikandan worked under the mentor ship of Om Prakash. A leading Cinematographer in South Indian Film Industry. During this period he started his cinematic career in Tamil Films namely Aramm, Kashmora, Maari, Yatchan, Anegan, Arrambam, Neethanae en Ponvasantham and Malayalam film Puthan Panam. Also worked in more than 600 commercials in India. He has done Independent films of which more than 60 Corporate Films, 40 Short Films, 30 commercials in India. Manikandan is an active participant in RED Education (2015) and ARRI Master Class Program (2017) in Mumbai which was the first ever program to take place in India with respect to Cinematography. He is an active member of Western Indian Cinematographers' Association (WICA). He is excited to collaborate with visionary filmmakers in creating images that enrich the story / concept and resonate with audience. The narrative he makes centers around human experience, often demanding visceral, textured images full of feeling, which makes the audience connect emotionally with the characters' world.
