Namo Safideen was born in Eskilstuna, Sweden, on March 11th 1985. His parents, both being of Kurdish descent, came to Sweden from Iraq as refugees in the early 1980's. Growing up in Eskilstuna, this is where Namo also enjoyed his high school days before studying for a degree in computer engineering in college. After graduating in 2008, Namo moved to Stockholm and began working on several IT projects. However, even with multiple ongoing IT projects that kept him busy, he still had this burning desire for something new. In 2011, he started writing down recurring dreams that he would have, often looking at these recurring dreams as emotional endings to a movie. Through this process, Namo was able to find his true passion: filmmaking. Namo immediately started to learn the craft on his own, writing screenplays whenever he could find the time. In 2012 Namo earned a degree in screenwriting from BrobyGrafiska (now Alma Manusutbildning), a higher vocational education institute. Upon graduating, Namo began making low-budget experimental short films with friends, expanding his budget, cast, and production value with every project along the way. In 2016, Namo wrote, directed, and produced his very first short film called "Libertas", which follows five randomly selected citizens who are enslaved to play "a game". In return for their participation, they are promised a free society, so long as they put their fates into the hands of an uprising power. Two years later, in 2018, he followed up this project with another well-received short film, "When We Dreamed", a story that follows a young poet in high school who is forced to choose between love and logic. In 2020, Namo released his short film "Chasing Swipes", revolving around a young woman's struggle to rediscover love through an online dating app. His most recent project, "Path Of A Ghost" is set to release later this year. Namo is a self-made filmmaker who enjoys taking risks, and creating content that is applicable regardless of gender, race, religion, or language. His films have been showcased at numerous international film festivals. He's extremely passionate about his craft and continues to pursue his passion, with his primary focus being to create future projects that provoke change, creativity, and positivity. He is also enjoying his role as a film festival jury member in Spain and Serbia.
