Ngima Gelu Sherpa

Born in the Everest region of Nepal, Ngima Gelu Sherpa is an independent filmmaker based in Kathmandu. His debut documentary short film, Home, premiered at Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen in 2021 and was awarded the Prize of Ecumenical Jury - Honorable Mention. His sophomore documentary short, Kathmandu Monsoon, premiered at DMZ Docs 2022, and it was also in competition at the New Orleans Film Festival. Sherpa holds MA in fiction film direction from Kino Eyes: The European Movie Masters program (2018 - 2020) involving stints in Lisbon, Edinburgh, and Tallinn, for which he received a full Erasmus plus scholarship. He is also an alumni of Rotterdam lab and Berlinale talents.
