Gillian Ford was born and raised in Stirling, Scotland. She began her professional career aged 20 when she joined the BBC TV series Yo! Diary (1999) playing the role of Lauren in the second season. Shortly after this Gillian moved from Stirling, Scotland, where she was born and raised, to London to train at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. While studying there she entered the BBC Radio 2 competition 'The Voice of Musical Theatre' and became the only student to reach the final rounds. After graduating she played Sorel Bliss in the Sir Peter Hall production of the Noel Coward play 'Hay Fever' alongside Stephanie Beacham. She made her West End debut in the Andrew Lloyd Webber production of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium. In 2009 she returned to Scotland to appear in several plays at Pitlochry Festival Theatre including The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Whisky Galore. After this she began to focus on singing opportunities and traveled extensively around the world performing in solo shows and concerts alongside theatre work. In 2017 she toured the UK in Mamma Mia! In 2019 she returned to London's West End to join the cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie directed by Jonathan Butterell.
