A sassy singer and actor based in Melbourne, Australia, Petra Elliott has worked in many areas of performance. Since completing a BA in acting earlier this century, Petra has delved into independent theatre and short film. She has explored cabaret, musical theatre, podcasts, audio comedy, theatre for children, contact impro, puppetry, and improvisation skills used in live performance, which included development of a Theatre In Education project for YWCA Scope. Petra's first solo cabaret show, 'Petrasexual' debuted during April 2014, at the new Richmond venue 'KaDo Warehouse'. Petra appeared alongside Splendid Chaps Ben Mckenzie and John Richards as a co-host in the "Smash Hit" Live Doctor Who podcast celebration running throughout 2013. She joins the chaps again alongside Lee Zacchariah with a scripted sci-fi audio series "Night Terrace", as a series creator as well as playing the mysterious and enigmatic 'Sue'. Lee and the Chaps also created the successful Melbourne Fringe play "Songs for Europe: 2 short plays about Eurovision" in which Petra played Eva in 'Carnation Revolution'. In February 2012 Petra joined La Mamma/ FLW Theatre to play 'Catherine' in Inside Out at the Carlton Courthouse, and appeared in the Melbourne Museum Comedy Tour, and Who killed John Bearington III for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April. Theatre highlights include Sissy (then) in Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, Dinah in Brighton Beach Scumbags, Lucy in 3 Points of Contact, Eve Ensler in The Vagina Monologues, Emilia in Othello, Belinda/Flavia in Noises Off, M'lynn in Steel Magnolias, Godspell, Cabaret, Les Miserables, multiple roles in He Died With a Falafel In His Hand, and as the title role in Peter Pan. Most recent credits include Jacinta in Immersed for the 'Wooden Leg', and as Thug (a puppet monster) in The Magical Oak Tree (Gasworks/Melbourne Fringe). Musically, her vocal styling has regularly warmed many Canberra music venues, singing original lyrics and interpretative covers live to compliment the music of DJ's and musicians. Petra also performs her fiery and soulful original acoustic pieces with keyboard accompaniment, as seen at 'Ladies at Play'. Petra was an artistic board member of BKu, and a founding member of Buzzing Productions (Contact Improvisation).
