While there he won the annually coveted Zaki Gordon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting. After graduating, Seppälä moved to Georgia and studied writing at SCAD Atlanta and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree. Initially never planning to work in front of the camera as an actor, that all changed when Seppälä received a small speaking role on the Netflix series Raising Dion while working his first day as an extra (his scene would end up being cut from the final edit).
