Jazmine Casey was born in February 1986 and was raised by military parents in the suburbs outside of Chicago. As a young girl, she and her mother were active in a local theater troupe lead by Maisha and Shebeta Carter; a welcome source of stability for Jazmine, who would go on to attend 10 different schools before leaving for college. One of these schools was a private boarding school where Jazmine was elected Sophomore Class President. Despite having several college offers, and a few arts-based scholarships, Jazmine decided to continue her family's military legacy, attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. Jazmine completed nearly 6 years of service, deploying once to Afghanistan in 2013, before returning to her position working with Wounded Warriors in Washington D.C. area. She resigned her Active Duty commission at the rank of Captain, in 2014.
