Matthew "Matt" Singletary was born on February 22, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois. He was born to Mike Singletary, a former NFL player with the Chicago Bears (1981-1992) and Kim Singletary. Matt was born into a large family including six siblings: one brother named John, and five sisters named, Kristen, Jill, Jackie, Brooke and Becky. Following his father's footsteps, Matt played football while attending high school in San Jose, CA. While in high school Matt played as a defensive end and offensive lineman. He graduated in 2007 from San Jose Valley Christian High School and went on to attend Baylor University (BU) later that same year. BU was the same college his father played for in the late 1970s until 1980 before he joined the NFL. Matt started at Baylor as a freshman defensive end. In 2008, he played as redshirt freshman and in 2009 became a redshirt sophomore as a defensive end. Matt transferred to West Valley College in Saratoga, CA in 2010. He soon transferred to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) majoring in Sociology where he played 11 games as a defensive end during his starting year. Matt Singletary migrated into other avenues. The world of entertainment was the next stop. Handsome and athletic, the 6' 4" former college football player quickly made his screen debut in 2014 in an episode of Chicago P.D. (2014). He made his leading role debut the following year in the action film Hood (2015). He made his television debut the following year on the musical comedy How to Be a Vampire (2016), followed by Roommates (2016), a series that he also wrote for.
