Mathieu Volpe (Rome, 1990) was raised by his Belgian mother and his Italian father in Bari, in the South of Italy. In 2009 he moved to Belgium in order to study filmmaking. His shorts have been presented in several international festivals such as Locarno, Torino, Dok Leipzig and Fipadoc. "An Italian Youth," shot between Italy and Burkina Faso, is his first feature-length documentary. In parallel, he is developing "Red Gold," his first fiction feature, produced by the Dardenne brothers and recently presented at the Jerusalem Film Lab, where it won the Emerging Filmmaker Award.
