Gavin James Irons was born in Leicester, England and lived in the mining village of Ibstock where he spent most of his school life before moving to Ashby-De-La-Zouch Grammar school for the final two years of his school life. It was in Ibstock where he met long-time friend and collaborator Craig D. Watts, where the two would write music and perform in the now defunct band 'dashboardporn' in and around the Leicestershire music scene, even managing to get one of their original songs played by DJ Steve Lamacq on his Radio 1 show after the pair handed the DJ their CD Demo in a local hotel. A huge fan of indie filmmaker Kevin Smith, saw Irons enrol in a short filmmaker's course in Leicester in 2006, in the hope of making films of his own. After the enjoyment of their first film together, Irons/Gela followed up Pictures of Andy in 2007 with 'Pixacillus' a short comedy about a mystery virus written by local author and fellow MAXQ student Rod Duncan, who was also part of the Pictures of Andy project. Pixacillus won two awards at the Leicester film festival in 2007, winning both, Best New Director for Irons and the Audience Appreciation award. After a short break Irons returned to part time education to receive a BA (Hons) in Business Studies before setting up the independent film company of Posh Fox Films with Gela. Posh Fox Films will produce their first film in 2014 as Irons and co-writer Watts make 'Sing with Friends'
