Masaya Kubota was born in Fukuoka, Japan where he was brought up as a child. Later he moved to New Zealand for study where he found his passion in filmmaking. His first encounter with film industry was in Emperor (2012) in which he was involved as an extra role as a Japanese soldier. He attended South Seas Film & Television School in Auckland, New Zealand and has directed/written his first short film At That Bus Stop (2015) which was screened at Fort Myers Beach Film Festival in 2015. Later he decided to extend his filed to the other side of camera too and studied at UPS Academy which is founded by a famous Hollywood casting director Yôko Narahashi kick-starting his career in acting.
