Grant Hyun (1991) is a filmmaker from Los Angeles and a graduate of NYU's MFA Filmmaking program. He grew up watching his father work on set as a still photographer where he fell in love with the process of filmmaking. He has a B.A. in American Studies from Colby College and worked on Gary Ross' Civil War/Reconstruction film, The Free State of Jones, before beginning at NYU where he was awarded the Ang Lee Scholarship. After a long festival run, his short film, Koreatown, was selected by Gus Van-Sant for the Coppola Short Film Competition and premiered online via Short of the Week. Third generation Korean American, Hyun is currently developing his first feature based on true stories from Koreatown, Los Angeles in the late 2000's.
