Joke-teller Alex Grubard grew up in Massachusetts, began his career in New York City and is a recent graduate Temple University in Philadelphia. With his memorable catchphrases, sharp joke technique and absurd character Alex Grubard is a popular and likeable stand-up act. Grubard hosts the game show of sobriety tests Weeding Out The Stoned produced by Good Good Comedy, which is a regular sell out and has been called "highly entertaining." He also has hosted alternative comedy shows of his creation CURSES!, Electile Dysfunction, and Progress & Congress. Alex is a member of the Philadelphia stand-up comedy cooperative Laughs on Philly which host stand-up nights at rock venues all over Philadelphia. He works regularly at Punch Line Philly and Helium Comedy Club and was a finalist in the Philly's Phunniest stand-up comedy competition. Now that Alex Grubard has graduated college with a degree in Creative Writing he is busier than even an ivy league student. In 2016 Alex Grubard was a featured performer at the 1st Lehigh Valley With Love comedy festival at Musikfest. He also hosted the summertime 90s rock party series Bright Radio Game Show. At the start of 2014 Alex was named runner-up for both Best Stand-Up Comedian and Best Stand-Up Bit at the 2014 Wit Out Awards in Philadelphia. In 2013 Alex was the winner of LOL at The Grand Opera in Wilmington, Delaware, performed stand-up on mtvU's "College Quickes," and co-wrote the sketch show One Hit Wonder which debuted in the 2013 Live Arts & Philly Fringe. Grubard has been named one of Philly's "Comics to Watch in 2012," "Top Philly Comedians of 2011" and "Top 10 Philly Comedians." He was a fan favorite comic during the 2012 Cape Fear Comedy Festival, the 2nd F. Harold Comedy Festival, 2012 Live Arts & Philly Fringe and 2011 1st Person Arts Festival. At Temple University Alex was President of TUComedy and led a team of stand-ups to the final 8 in Rooftop Comedy's College Competition. For Temple Film Collective he wrote and directed the short film The Coca-Cola Conspiracy. Many times on campus Alex Grubard performed comedy including stand-up and sketch comedy in the SNL-styled TUTV show Temple SMASH as well as stand-up on TUTV's late night comedy talk show Temple Tonight. In 2010 Alex made it into the Final 4 of March Comedy Madness and for one week in September of 2010 Alex's was Time Out NY's "Joke of the Week." Yeah, of the WEEK. His acting has been seen on Comedy Central's "Web Shows" and his blogging read on The NY Examiner, CampusPhilly and 100inNYC. Grubard is one of the best young stand-up comics on the East Coast. He was on academic probation for only two semesters.
