Linas Mikuta was born in 1980, Klaipeda, Lithuania. He was graduated as a Theatre Director at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2003. In 2015 he finished his Master studies as Film Director at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. 2005 - 2008 he worked as assistant and associate director at Lithuanian Opera and ballet theatre, Tel-Aviv Opera, Frankfurt Opera. Also he made independent project as director with Vilnius Philharmonia. In 2009 Linas Mikuta started to work with the cinema projects. In the same year he created a screenplay "Blindness" for the scenario contest, organized by "SKALVIJA" cinema centre in Vilnius. This screenplay was awarded as the best scenario of all the participants and took the first place. In 2010 Linas Mikuta directed short film "Failed scenario" which was showed in many festivals in Lithuania and abroad. In 2013 Linas Mikuta presented his debut medium-length documentary "Dzukija's Bull" and short-length documentary "Dinner". Both films participated in much festivals in Lithuania and abroad (including festivals as Leipzig DOK, Yerevan IFF "Golden Apricot", Tartu anthropological film festival "Worldfilm" etc.). In 2013 at European film forum "Scanorama" (Vilnius) film "Dinner" was awarded as best Lithuanian short film. In the same year film "Dzukija's Bull" got prize at Yekaterinburg documentary film festival "Rossia" for the Best Cinematography. In 2015 film "Fellow travelers" was awarded as a "Best Student Film " at Vilnius International Film festival "Kino Pavasaris". In 2016 Linas Mikuta presented film "Dead Ears", which won several prizes at international film festivals (such as Krakow film festival, FIDBA, Sole Luna Doc etc.) and was showed in over 30 festivals. His latest documentary "Roman's childhood was premiered at DOK Leipzig 2020 International Long Documentary competition programme and nominated for FIPRESCI Prize, MDR Film Prize, Prize of the Interreligious Jury, Young Eyes Film Award.
