G.M. Whiting is a Mexican American independent screenwriter and filmmaker. He started out with stop motion in 2009 and in the year of 2011 he started shooting live action short films. His short subjects ranged from 40 minutes in length, and under. In the year of 2014, he released his first independent feature, Supercells. He claims that as his starter or practice film, as later that year he released his 'first' feature, The Nether Experiment. Through the years, he's experimented in several genres from, action, suspense, thriller, drama, etc. He has had a tendency to have trademarks in every film he has directed, such as violence and suspense. As an homage to David Cronenberg, Paul Verhoeven, John Carpenter, Denis Villeneuve, Darren Aronofsky and David Fincher (his favorite directors of all time) he has incorporated things he's learned from their style of filmmaking into his own projects. In 2015, Whiting took on different projects varying from character studies, like in his short film Spidurb, psychological thrillers, like in his adaptation of the 2013 film Enemy, and sad drama in his short film, Forever Broken. Later that year he directed a crime thriller mixed with drama in his film, A Lethal History. Originally there was two separate cuts of the film. One was a Lethal Weapon-esque cut with comedy, action, and drama, while the other is a straight up crime thriller drama. That version is the version he publicly released. He then went to direct a straight up thriller in his film, None. This film he claims captures what he really loves about movies. A simple plot, with good music, and lots of suspense and thrills. In the year of 2016, he adapted the 2002 film, Panic Room, and put his own little spins and twists on it. He had several screenings for the film, as he also did with his films, None and A Lethal History. He did two cuts of Panic Room, as he believed the first one he screened had a lot of stuff he would go back and change. The second cut is the one he released publicly. Later that year he directed a throwback to the 80's sci-fi Terminator-esque film called, Future. A sci-fi film in which a group of people fight of an army of cyborg robot clones. This film he said was just entertainment at it's finest. To this day, he is active in directing and is now a producer for his friends, B.I. Brazda and Landen James. All of his films have a common theme regardless of the genre, like action, suspense, or violence. His films are continuing and he is continuing as a filmmaker.
