LeAnn Morris grew up in a home where both parents were writers-her father was a journalist and her mother a poet-so exposure to the craft of writing was a part of life. She spent nineteen years as a home educator, and during that time, LeAnn taught her three children the importance of writing not only to benefit their educational endeavors but as a way of expression and creativity. In 2007, LeAnn began a new journey of teaching herself the craft of screenwriting. So far she has completed seven feature length scripts-four adaptations and three original screenplays, and five short film scripts. Two of her feature length scripts have won awards at some smaller film festivals, and one screenplay "More Precious" was a finalist at the first annual screenwriting competition of the Nashville Film Festival in 2014. The doors began to open in 2010, when LeAnn was given the opportunity to help her friend Hannah Beets with her film "Such Subtleties" by script consulting in that project. Then by 2012, LeAnn ventured further into the role of filmmaker by writing and co-producing her first short film "Treasure". Since then, LeAnn has gone on to write, co-produce and over-see the set design for the short film "Tattered Blanket" which is in post-production and scheduled to screen locally in Henderson, Texas, early in December (2014). The film is scored by the award winning composer Jurgen Beck and stars Micah Goodding with Tommy G. Kendrick, Jessica Fraccaro and Haskell Reeves. Plans for the film at this time include entering it in several national as well as Texas film festivals in 2015. In her spare time, she enjoys her garden and walks around the family farm in East Texas. God has blessed LeAnn with a wonderful husband, Charlie, to whom she has been married for 33 years. They have three grown children and had the privilege of seeing their oldest get married this year (2014), which was such an exciting time for all.
