María Aparicio is an Argentine film director and screenwriter. She was born in the city of Córdoba, where she also studied at the Film School of the Public University of Córdoba. In 2016 she debuted with Las calles, her first feature film, which was followed by Sobre las nubes (2022) and Las cosas indefinidas (2023). All three films have been screened at festivals and exhibitions, national and international, winning awards and recognitions. She has also directed short films such as Hombre bajo la lluvia (2018) and Buscar trabajo (2022). In addition to her work as a director, she teaches and gives film workshops. Aparicio has expressed that the decision to shoot her films in her city is a political act, despite the difficulties involved, with the purpose of promoting local production.
