Rakhi Mutta is an award-winning producer, director, writer, and manager of world-renowned best-selling poet and performer, Rupi Kaur. Her short films and web series surrounding mental health and relationships in the South Asian diaspora have gone viral, receiving wide acclaim. Rakhi's latest achievement was executive producing Rupi Kaur Live (2021). Rupi Kaur Live is a spoken-word live performance film, the first-ever poetry special of its kind. Filmed in Orpheum Theatre in LA, it is the first independent debut film from Rupi Kaur, where she brings her written poetry to life on the grand stage. Rakhi is a multi-faceted creative powerhouse, using her craft to encourage the development and representation of South Asian stories in the western world. Her life's work also revolves around the empowerment of women encouraging equity in every space she enters, leading by example. The Good Indian Bride (2016) stands as one of Rakhi's most powerful curatorial projects to date. It is considered to be a visceral "love letter to the sisterhood", a decadent yet haunting live art installation investigating the role of patriarchy in North Indian wedding rituals. Her repertoire of works includes Haneri (2015), a film on mental health, an educational video on honor killings, Silent Struggles (2016), which looks at elder abuse in the Punjabi Community, Anarkali (2015), one of Rakhi's most iconic viral masterpieces about a young Punjabi woman dumped by her fiancé two months before her wedding. Supported by her friends, Anarkali then navigates through the dating world, especially within the South Asian cultural context. Rakhi received the Arts Acclaimed Citizens Award in 2016, an award that recognizes individuals whose contribution has had a significant impact in terms of achieving local, Provincial, National, or International acclaim. Her creative genius has caught the attention of the masses and received acclaim and was featured in the likes of NBC, CBC, CBC Arts, BBC, OMNI TV, Elle Canada, and Canadian Living.
