Dave Paterson is an Australian writer and director, known for Butcherbird (2014) and Boné (2015). He is a two-time winner of the UK Film Festival Script Competition, winning in 2016 for his un-produced feature 'Cottontail', then again in 2020 for 'What Did You Do, Sweet Mary Lou?' He began his career working on projects such as the YouTube Symphony Orchestra and the ASTRA Awards, where he was later promoted to write for the ASTRA Awards. Since 2011, his scripts and shorts, commonly set around very raw, 'real' criminal characters, have won and been selected for multiple festivals. He is a common collaborator of Catriona McKenzie's, having worked on two projects with her.
