Growing up in Canton Ohio, Tyler got an early start to working behind the scenes through being a part of a plethora of different live theater events starting at the early age of 13. With a comprehensive, professional, and rigorous technical theater program provided by Hoover High school, Tyler quickly learned every detail involved in the execution of a high quality live performance. During his time running a multitude of productions and events, he leaned on his natural mixing abilities, and focused on live sound. After a year of studying business at Xavier University, Tyler went on to mix sound as the main board operator for the newest live shows at Kings Island and Cedar Point. He then went on to mix sound and work as a general stage technician for several professional theater venues in Cleveland Ohio and surrounding areas. At this point in his life, Tyler came to a cross-road where he had to make a decision; continue mixing sound, or branch out into a new aspect of the entertainment industry. With some much needed soul searching and contemplation, Tyler decided that he wanted to take part in the creation of feature films and television. After moving to the state of Kentucky, he quickly enrolled in film school at Asbury University. During his time at Asbury, Tyler quickly learned of a natural talent in lighting for camera. With an attention to detail and thirst for knowledge, Tyler would go on to quickly work his way up in the ranks of the grip and electrical department, where he eventually became Gaffer for a variety of feature films. During this time in Tyler's filmmaking career, he became intimately familiar with the techniques of old, where tungsten is king and hard light is nothing to shy away from. Due to the unpredictability of the mid-western film market, Tyler packed up his fresnels and set his sights on the Deep South and Atlanta Georgia. After relocating, Tyler would continue to work as a Gaffer all around the south for different features, music videos, and a variety of commercial/ corporate projects. Wanting to perfect his craft, Tyler continues to do his own independent research in cutting-edge techniques and technology. With intimate knowledge of the old ways of filmmaking, familiarity of new technologies/ fixtures, and a genuine passion for all things light; Tyler continues to be an up-and-coming talent in the world of lighting for film.
