Jimel Atkins

The Jamaican native spent his early childhood in Springfield, Massachusetts where he developed a love for sports & film in America. Sports led Jimel into pursuing a career in athletics first which developed into being a wide-receiver for the University of South Florida (2012-2015). In 2016 Jimel decided to step away from athletics and the collegiate journey into his creative passions. Soon after, Jimel landed a spot in the Netflix hit, "Mindhunter". His first recurring role was birthed as Ray Kelly in the critically acclaimed Peabody Award winning OWN TV series "David Makes Man" which was produced by Oprah Winfrey, Michael B. Jordan and written/produced by Oscar Winner Tarell Alvin McCraney. Jimel's early track record of working with incredibly talented writers & directors has continued into his major debut recurring role as Jamaal "Silk" Wilkes on HBO's TV series Winning Time; written and directed by Adam McKay, Max Borenstein & Rodney Barnes. Winning Time premiers in March 2022
