Scotty Drake

Scotty Drake is an American actor and audiobook narrator. He was a radio DJ from 1970 until his retirement in May, 2018. Born in Baltimore, MD, in 1952, he attended Penn State University in 1969 in hopes of becoming an architect. However, in 1970 he stumbled into the campus radio station, and there was no turning back. Scotty worked on the air as a Top 40 DJ in Centre County, PA, until 1974. At that time, he relocated to Evansville, IN, where he married his college sweetheart, the former Kathleen Murphy of Philadelphia. In 1976, they moved one last time to Baton Rouge, LA, where they live to this day. The couple has one son, Jesse, who lives in Denver, CO, with his wife, the former Heather Landaiche of Zachary, LA. Along the way, Scotty began acting on stage in 1989. He has performed in 25 plays including such well-known works as Crimes of the Heart, The Rainmaker, The Fantasticks, Neil Simon's California Suite, Arsenic and Old Lace, Inherit the Wind, and On Golden Pond. He also began narrating audiobooks for the State Library of Louisiana and has numerous titles to his credit, including If I Only Had a Horn: Young Louis Armstrong by Roxane Orgill, which was granted acceptance into the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. He also has several audiobooks that are commercially available through iTunes, Amazon.com, and Audible.com. In 2008, Scotty provided some voice work for his one and only motion picture, Dance World Revelations. In the spring of 2018, Scotty Drake was presented the prestigious Radio Lifetime Achievement Award by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. Several months later, after nearly 48 years on the air, he retired to live happily ever after.
