Lathan Whitfield Toland was born in Evanston, Illinois. He is best known publicly for his role as an actor on ABC Family's (now known as Freeform) television series Becoming Us. At the age of 14, he developed skills as an IMVU clothing developer. As the son of a chef and film producer James Toland, he lived in many states during his youth while going through his years at High School. Moving nearly every year from demands in his father's career developments and opportunities within several states in the US. Lathan attended 4 different High Schools, both public and private, as a result of these re-locations. Expanding his diversity in school which granted him many opportunities to broaden his choices in studies. He began in East Lyme, CT at East Lyme High School living in a multi-billion dollar living district along the Atlantic shoreline. Offering him advanced study choices at an earlier age. Including courses in sailing offered by the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, marine biology, and advanced geological science courses. Already 3 years advanced in French language courses, he was the first Freshman student to take senior leveled French courses at his school. Completing his Freshman year at East Lyme, he relocated back to his hometown in Evanston, IL to begin his Sophomore year at public institution Evanston Township High School. Having fulfilled advanced studies earlier at his previous school, he excelled in Advanced Placement courses offered at his high school. Including AP Psychology, AP History, AP Biology, AP Physics, and AP Writing, and French language courses. Taking on yet another relocation, Lathan moved into the city of Chicago at the highlight of his father's restaurant business. Opening a restaurant, The Black Sheep, which opened it's doors for exotic foods with artistic plating. Deriving ingredients from all across the world; also supporting local farms and businesses. The restaurant later closed down. Lathan was then accepted into a private institution for completing his Junior year high school year; named Global Citizenship Experience for furthering his college-leveled experience. A school which greatly tapped into advancing his skills as an artist, as well as world studies. These unique courses based their principles on educating students about global crisis, giving them the opportunity indulge in projects aiming to solve world problems. Succeeding in Economics, Environmental Science, Political Science, Sociology, Forensics, and Statistics. Achieving Advanced Calculus and Statistic leveled math courses for business and science projects. Lathan is now successful in establishing an online business, which offers website and gallery information connected to his work as a commissioned artist for sculpture, painting, and costume design. He is presently applying educational work in the realm of writing a personal online TV series on YouTube's platform. Producing content aimed to engage with the public on topics pertaining to counseling, social justice, theoretical science, philosophy, religious rights and history as he applies himself through University of Wisconsin. Working on obtaining a masters in education. Hoping to potentially use his online series as a pilot for writing a second series to ABC Family's (Freeform) Becoming Us. to advance the program's aim towards youth education. Unfortunately, the show was not renewed.
