"It really pisses me off that women have to modulate their voice depending on who they talk to". Elena López Riera holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication and is a filmmaker, programmer, and teacher. Her works have been screened at festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, and San Sebastian, as well as at PS1 MOMA in New York. She has worked as a programmer for festivals such as Entrevues de Belfort and Visions du réel. She has taught at universities such as Geneva, Valencia, and Carlos III, as well as at HEAD and the Elías Querejeta School. Riera has been artist-in-residence at Ikusmira Berriak and at the Résidence de la Cinéfondation in Cannes. He directed the short films "Pueblo" (2015), "Las vísceras" (2016), and "Los que desean" (2018), which received awards at Locarno and Zinebi and was nominated for the European Film Awards. His feature film "El Agua" (2022) premiered at Cannes, and was invited to several international festivals, earning a nomination for Best New Director at the Goya Awards. His short film, "Las novias del Sur" (2024), won the Queer Palm at Cannes.
