John Buchanan I am a native Washingtonian, product of DC Public Schools, graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a member of The Soul Searchers from 1971 to 1986. I wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on our first three albums: "We the People" (1972), Salt of the Earth" (1974) and Bustin' Loose" (1978). We toured the country twice and performed with many major acts including "War", "Confunction", "The Commodores", Mary J. Blidge, Mother's Finest, and culminating one trip with the "Soul Train" Show and Don Cornelius. I received a Gold Record in 1979 for the single "Busting Loose". I had an acting role in the 1986 Movie about DC Go-Go "Good to Go", later to be renamed "Short Fuse". I was featured in the 2016 Unsung episode "Chuck Brown & Go-Go" on TV One. I am on display in the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in the DC Go-Go Section for my Soul Train appearance with the Soul Searchers. I most recently was selected as an extra in the Spike Lee Joint "She's Gotta Have it Too", Season II, Episode 4 which will air in November 2018.
