Mutana Al-Rubaye is one of the most promising Iraqi Actors and Filmmakers of his generation. Mutana started the film studies at the cinema department of Baghdad fine arts college in 2004 where has was spotted by an American MTV film crew who followed him for few weeks in Baghdad at the time. Subsequently, Mutana was featured on the MTV program 'True life: I'm living in Iraq' where he shared the challenges of his daily life as an aspiring young Iraqi film student after the 2003 Iraq war with MTV audiences. This appearance caught the eye of American Actor/Filmmaker Liev Schreiber who offered Mutana to come to Czech Republic, and intern on the set of his debut film - Everything is Illuminated. Mutana spent one-week assisting film professionals in each department starting from production design, cinematography, props, production office and even appeared in the film as an extra. Subsequently, Mutana worked on the set of Hollywood blockbuster Doom as a Production assistant, where he captured attention of American Movie Star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who offered Mutana his endorsement and generous sponsorship to leave Czech Republic and study Filmmaking in London, United Kingdom. In 2007, Mutana graduated successfully from Film School obtaining a filmmaking diploma. After graduation, Mutana was unable to return to his war torn country Iraq. He stayed in the UK as a refugee and continued working on his filmmaking career writing/directing and producing his own art house short films (Just Thinking in a Loud Voice, Colors of Happiness), which shaped his artistic vision and original style of story telling. Mutana has developed, written, produced and directed Dana Dana (Pearl Pearl), a 45 minuets film which features some of London's most talented film artists and cast. Dana Dana (Pearl Pearl) was first shown (Work-in-Progress Screening) at the 39th Asian American International Film Festival NYC, USA in July 2016. Subsequently, Dana Dana was selected at (Stars on the Horizon) section of Jagran Film Festival, Mumbai, India in October 2016. In January 2017, the final version of Dana Dana (Pearl Pearl) opened Jaipur International Film Festival (an Oscars qualifying film festival) in Jaipur, India. In June 2017 Dana Dana had its European Premiere at highly reputable East End Film Festival in London. Dana Dana is officially selected by The Soho London Independent Film Festival due to take place in November, 2020. In Late 2018, Mutana founded his London based production company House of Art Studios where he resides permanently. He is currently developing his debut feature film Colors of Happiness and second feature film Do Re Me.
