Byron Steve Valencia was born on July 8th, 1991 in Los Angeles, CA. His parents, whom were refugees from the war-torn country of El Salvador, immigrated to the United States in 1988. Byron spent the first couple of years living in Koreatown, before his family moved to the San Fernando Valley, where he spent the rest of his young to adolescent life. At the age of 8, Byron knew he wanted to make movies and music videos, as he would imagine alternative scenarios for the films he'd watch and would create story-lines for the music of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin that his mother would constantly play. However, as he grew up, he considered it nothing more than a childhood dream. For his thirteenth birthday, his parents bought him a guitar, and he would spend nearly all of his time playing his favorite songs. Around this time, he was greatly influenced by the alternative punk band AFI, for their straight-edge lifestyle as well as their early hardcore punk sound to their post-punk alternative sound. To this day, he accredits AFI's "Sing the Sorrow" as the album that changed his life. After spending an unpleasant first semester at a high school in North Hills, CA, his parents decided to move to Palmdale, CA, where he graduated from Highland High School with the class of '09. After being accepted to the Civil Engineering program at UC Irvine, Byron moved from Palmdale to the city of Irvine, where he minored in Mathematics and double-majored in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and completed all of his undergraduate studies in just four years (2009 - 2013). During the Spring on 2011, he directed a music video for his brother's band "The Salsa", and his love for creating films revitalized. After creating a few other videos, he casted the lead singer of "The Salsa" to star in his first short film "Mysophobia" (2012), a story based on Howard Hughes' OCD. Byron, having a mild case of OCD himself, was intrigued by the story of Howard Hughes being stuck in a restroom for hours due to his inability to touch the doorknob. By the end of 2012, BSV Entertainment had been created as a partnership with his brother, Brandon Valencia, who would write all of the scripts for their films. Over the next few years, several other short films were developed. However, the company went on hiatus in 2013, after Byron had attended UCLA to earn his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering. During this time, Byron began working as an SAT Math teacher and Physics/Calculus tutor to finance his graduate studies. The company had once again resumed filming by the summer of 2014, and continue doing so to this day. In 2015, BSV Entertainment had been registered as a General Partnership, and Byron would continue to direct, produce, and edit films, while also working for a Structural Engineering Consulting company. Byron's dream is to place a film title within the "Best Picture" columns of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, CA, and has continuously stated that he has until 2071 to accomplish this dream, which is the final year for the "Best Picture" columns.
