Ian Hansen

Director | Actor | Creation
Date of birth : 10/27/1982
City of birth : Hamburg, Germany

Ian Hansen's movie roles were few and far between; he is perhaps best known for his stellar performances on stage, including successes in Berlin and Hamburg, where he started as a member of Die Megaperls in the 1990s. He acted in plays by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Joe Orton, Nicky Silver and Nikolay Gogol as well as in the musical "Buddy" and even as The Witch in "Hansel and Gretel". After studying with Teresa Nawrot in Berlin, Hansen landed his first movie role in Anonymous (2011), but his role wound up on the cutting room floor. This would happen to him two more times, with Hai-Alarm am Müggelsee (2013) (his scenes can be found on the DVD) and Bliss (2021). In 2015, he made his directorial debut with On My Mother's Path (2016), an ill-fated French drama with Thomas Laroppe. He then spent the latter half of the 2010s preparing his first "own" movie, Ein Liebhaber für drei (2023), a likable screwball comedy starring Jérôme Pradon and Niclas G. Icewood. The production of Ein Liebhaber für drei (2023) was tumultuous: First, Hansen suffered a heart attack in August 2018, then, in May 2020, he had a stroke from which he quickly recovered.
