Donovan Gumbo was born in Harare Zimbabwe to parents Carol Sibanda and Don Gumbo a musician from the famous band Ilanga. His early exposure to performing arts was at Prince Edward School where he played bass guitar for the band. After graduation he joined an acapella group as a bass singer, where they toured internationally expanding his network. In 2012 he moved to the United States of America and focused on photography. Through that line of work he found a role as forensic detective in Lions Blood Entertainment's Red Bottoms, then a more substantial role in 'Here and Now'. He expresses a preference is behind the scenes in film production and planning.
