According to statisticbrain.com, there are over 400,000 CEO's in the USA, and less than 10% of them make half a million dollars a year. One ambitious Michigan native intends on being added to that illustrious group of Americans. Tony Deshae aka DJ PC is undoubtedly a CEO on the rise. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan the one of the poorest and deadliest cities in the country, Tony Deshae started making his inroads as a local DJ/Rapper/Promoter. "I was the one stop shop. You lived in Flint and needed a DJ, needed contacts outside of Flint, I was the one to see" he says. He then became a celebrated college radio personality for 94.3 FM WKUF for 5 years. Fast forward to the present time. After several independent and major label situations went south, in 2013 Tony Deshae landed on a boutique start-up label based in Delaware Street Military Music Group, better known as SMMG (S Double M G). "It felt good to be down with some young entrepreneurs who had fresh ideas and who had the capitol to make sh** happen" Deshae remarked. His debut single on the label "Bubblegum Booty" peaked at #2 on the independent radio airplay charts, and gained notoriety on several online platforms. Deshae was even able to secure several lucrative sponsorship deals from companies like Raunch World USA, Adult Jobs, a liquor start-up, and a tobacco company. "The money just kept pouring in" he proclaimed. Financial issues caused one of his sponsors Raunch World USA to lose a considerable amount of money. The enterprising Deshae talked his label heads into buying the company. "I thought about it and said we got music, they video content, we can cross promote. Content is king" proclaimed the Michigan native. But the ever evolving music business is becoming increasing difficult by the second, especially for start-ups (with or without capital). SMMG quickly learned the hard way with losses totaling a quarter million dollars. "Some people don't get it. They want to spend money getting offices and celebrity features. But if you have no marketing or radio promo you will lose" Deshae said. After his label heads and investors took a hike to pursue new ventures, Deshae was able to persuade them into letting him take over the company. He now sits on a burgeoning empire which includes: a music company, music publishing, clothing line, film company, a magazine, and electronics company. "We got some new investors and we're ready for the takeover. 2016 is going to be a make or break year for us ten hut", Deshae exclaimed. "Ten hut" is the battle cry for this "Street Military". There are those who say Deshaes' new found position with offices in New York and Detroit, is simply a case of an unqualified maniac becoming a "boss by default". To that Deshae says: "Haha, they are nothing but (bleeped out) haters. I'm smart enough to hire consultants and staff of people smarter than me. There's a lot of talented former entertainment employees unemployed. But 'Boss by Default'? Sounds like a good movie title hmmmm". Deshae is currently building is roster of talent and building his content. "We have a packed schedule all the way to 2020", he says. He plans on bringing jobs to the impoverished cities of Flint and Detroit. Keep an eye out for DJ PC AKA Tony Deshae. Tony Deshae can be reached by contacting HP Magazine [email protected]
